Meet Hannah Green, Access Specialist at the SCS Library

head shot of Hannah Green

Name, job title and location

Hannah Green, and I am the Access Specialist at the SCS Library.

What do you do--in 10 words or less?

In a nutshell: circulation/reference desk and jack of all trades.

What are you reading (or watching or playing) right now?

I'm reading The Golden Compass so I can watch the new show! I'm currently watching  What We Do in the Shadows and The Birch, and I'm playing Civilization VI on the Switch.

Where are you from?

I'm originally from Jacksonville, North Carolina. Then I lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, and France on and off for four years before moving to the DMV area in late 2017.

Do you have any hobbies?

I love learning new crafts - shoutout to Noah Martin for teaching me how to book bind in the Maker Hub! I also love traveling, photography, and hiking.

What’s your nerd cred?

I read/collect comics, graphic novels, and manga, and I like to watch anime from time to time. I've also been known to play D&D with my husband and friends. Oh, and of course I'm a proud Slytherin!

Do you have any favorite winter traditions or activities?

I've been a huge fan of Tchaikovsky since I was little, so I try to watch at least one version of The Nutcracker every winter - either live, a recording, or some adaptation. And I also watch The Nightmare Before Christmas every year.

If you could be present for any event of the past, present, or future, what would it be?

I think attending the 1900 World's Fair in Paris would be amazing.

If you didn’t work in libraries, what would you be doing?

Crying? Haha! I'd like to think that I would be in event planning since that's what I did at my alma mater, or something like a travel agent. Or I'd love to be a travel photographer!

What are you learning right now?

I'm trying to up my game in photography and using Adobe software like InDesign and Photoshop, as well as art history! And when I can no longer take being harassed by the DuoLingo owl, I work on my Romanian and French.
