New Maker Hub Homepage

Two students working on laptops in the Maker Hub

Over the summer of 2018, the Maker Hub undertook a major effort to revamp and expand its website, with new content and features. These new features will make it easier for you to connect with the expertise, services, and resources you need to complete your next project in the Library!

Highlights from this update include:

  • A revamped homepage, with a new layout, and a link to Maker Hub news.
  • Enhanced equipment pages available under Tools with individual pages for each piece of equipment with embedded videos covering basic safety and usage, troubleshooting, and creative ideas.
  • New informational pages like Getting StartedWays to Learn, and Policies and Procedures, to better explain the operations and rules of a space that can seem intimidating to some. There is also a new FAQ section with answers to your most common questions.
  • An enhanced events calendar. Our Workshops and Events page has an embedded calendar populated with all our upcoming events. We also have clear guidelines for proposing and creating your own Maker Hub events. This is part of our effort to give our community more opportunities to share their skills and ideas.
  • A new and improved Skills Calendar. We’ve cross-referenced our volunteer schedule with a database of their skill sets, so you can see at a glance what skills are available to learn at any time.
  • A new Equipment Reservation Calendar. We now allow reservations of all major tools in the Maker Hub. These reservations are visible on the Reservation Calendar page. Reservations can be made in person, via email to makerhub@georgetown.edu or via our chat system.
  • A new way to connect with experts in the Maker Hub. With the new Maker Hub Chat System you can speak with staff in the Maker Hub at any time during open hours.

All of these new pages and features are available from the table of contents on the Maker Hub homepage https://www.library.georgetown.edu/makerhub.
