All Main Campus Library facilities are open and operating at full capacity to Georgetown faculty, students, and staff. The Library will be closed to external community members and guests through December 2021, with limited exceptions. Find the most current information available on the Library's COVID-19 FAQ.
The Library will launch a redesigned website in the winter intersession period after final exams.
The website was last redesigned in 2013, and it was built on version 7 of the Drupal content management system. Drupal 7 is nearing the end of its lifespan, and will stop receiving security patches next year. Upgrading will require significant rewriting of code, but it also provides an opportunity to refine the site’s look and navigation, and to meet changes to the University’s accessibility and visual identity policies that have been implemented since the last redesign.
A committee of Library staff has been working since last October to identify user needs, review the websites of peer institutions for best practices, and iterate new designs. We are now collecting user feedback about our proposed new design. In the coming months, we will share previews of both the desktop and mobile versions of the site, and construct training materials to make the transition to the new site as easy as possible for all users.
