Course Materials
Course Materials via BlackBoard:
Your faculty can request that the library digitize copies of required journal articles and book chapters and makes these available via BlackBoard.
Print Reserves:
Your faculty can request that a print copy of materials be made available at the circulation desk.
Reserve items are available on a first come, first serve basis. Reserve items cannot be placed on hold, recalled, or renewed.
Borrowing Print Reserves:
Up to three items can checked out for short-term loan of 4 hours, 1 day or 3 days.
Access Materials beyond GU-Q
From Education City Libraries
- Locate the item you wish to borrow.
- Record the call number, title and author of the item(s).
- Email the item information to us
- You can borrow the item(s) for two weeks.
From Main Campus
- The library catalog can be used to request books not held at GU-Q but available from the main campus.
Articles
- Georgetown University Library is part of ILLiad, an international consortium of academic and research libraries. Journal articles and conference papers not accessible in full-text through Journal Finder can be searched for and requested using this service. You will be notified via email when your request is available for download from you ILLiad account.
Contact library staff if you need help finding materials not available at GU-Q Library.
Group Study and Media Production Rooms
Undergraduates can reserve and use the library group study and media production rooms. To reserve a room, fill out the form below:

Conditions
- A Georgetown University email is required to reserve a room
- Two or more students are required to make a valid room booking
- The group study room may be booked a for a maximum of 3 hours per day
- Once the booking is completed online, see a staff member for the room key

Computer Commons
Green PCs are open to all, but have no printing. Blue PCs and Macs require login, and have access to printing.

Reference Services
Librarians are available to answer any questions you might have about finding and using information. They can refer you to our carefully selected scholarly resources and help you to complement these resources by showing you how to locate the highest quality information freely available on the Internet.
The Reference Desk is located adjacent to the Computer Commons for face to face consultations or electronically via the Ask Us Form. Alternatively you can telephone Reference Services on +974 4457 8492.
Instructional Services
Librarians work in partnership with your professor to help you develop the academic skills you need to effectively find and use scholarly information. Contact the Reference Desk if you need help at any stage of your research. The library staff may refer you to a specific librarian for an individual consultation.
You can also ask your professor to make arrangements for an instructional librarian to visit your class to discuss the information seeking process for specific assignments.
Assistive Technology
In partnership with the Office of Academic Services and Mada, the Qatar Assistive Technology Center, the Library provides equipment and software designed specifically for learners who are visually or hearing impaired.
Image Magnifier

The Image Magnifier enlarges difficult to read text. The text or an image can be placed on the table and offers multiple magnification settings.
Text-to-Speech

The Text-to-Speech equipment scans and then reads text out-loud at variable speeds. Headphones are available to ensure comfortable listening and privacy.
