We are currently installing new doors in the stairwell in Lauinger Library. During this time, visitors will not be able to use landings that are under construction, either to enter that floor or pass through en route to another. We encourage visitors to use the elevators, although the stairwell may still be used to access floors that are not under construction. Landings under construction should only be used in the case of an emergency.

Planning for Video Production

This workshop will walk participants through the most important phase of video production, which is "pre-production" (the planning phase). Different types of shotlists, scripts, and video clips will be shown during this time to give you a feel of how planning is actually applied to a completed video project. Participants will be introduced to desktop publishing and the InDesign interface, and will learn how to import and format text, create frames, place text and images into frames, manipulate and organize objects in layers, manipulate text and images into basic layouts, and export projects as PDF files. Having completed the workshop, participants should be able to create basic documents such as brochures, pamphlets, and posters and prepare them for printing. This hands-on workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to learn how to set up a professional, yet basic production shoot. Adobe Premiere Pro is a professional video editing application that is used to combine video and audio clips, music, graphics, titles, and still images to produce finished sequences. Intro to 3D Printing

This workshop will explore the processes involved in 3D printing and scanning.  This workshop will survey 3D modeling software freely available for creating objects; discover valuable on-line resources, services, and communities for 3D printing; and show examples of 3D printed objects.  This workshop will review what 3D printers and materials are available to Georgetown University patrons in the Gelardin New Media Center.  Also, this workshop will provide a hands-on experience with the MakerWare for Digitizer Interface and the Makerbot Digitizer. The Gelardin staff will show the methods for how to calibrate and scan objects with the Makerbot Digitizer. There will be a review of best practices for scanning using with Makerbot Digitizer and how the Gelardin Center staff will work with patrons to scan 3D objects for printing or editing. Register for this workshop.

This workshop will be a hands-on workshop using the on-line 3D design tool, Tinkercad. Tinkercad is "an easy-to-use tool for creating digital designs that are ready to be 3D printed into physical objects." The workshop will cover the basic workplane layout, shapes, and tools of the application. The workshop will show how to construct simple objects and introduce how to construct more complex objects. Social Media Marketing
