Gelardin Workshop: Social Media Marketing

This workshop will introduce some of the concepts, platforms, and tools in the Social Media landscape. Participants will discuss social media engagement, how to set and implement specific goals & strategies, and get hands-on experiece with Facebook Pages and Twitter. Register for this workshop.

Prerequisite: No prerequisite, but it is highly recommended that participants have a basic knowledge of different social media platforms and their corresponding functions.

 

Gelardin Workshop: Intro to InDesign


2:00pm-4:00pm, April 6, 2015
Picchi Lab, Gelardin New Media Center

Participants will be introduced to desktop publishing and the InDesign interface, and will learn how to import and format text, create frames, place text and images into frames, manipulate and organize objects in layers, manipulate text and images into basic layouts, and export projects as PDF files. Having completed the workshop, participants should be able to create basic documents such as brochures, pamphlets, and posters and prepare them for printing. Register for this workshop.

Gelardin Workshop: Intro to Photoshop

Participants will be introduced to the Photoshop workspace as well as basic Photoshop concepts including layers, managing text and making selections. Participants will also be exposed to the common types of image file formats and how they are used in web and print environments. Register for this workshop.

Gelardin Workshop: Intro to 3D Printing

This workshop will explore the underlying technologies, survey some of the 3D modeling software freely available for creating objects; discover valuable resources, services, and communities for 3D printing on the Web; show examples of 3D printed objects; and review the 3D printing capability in terms of what printers and materials are available to Georgetown University patrons in the Gelardin New Media Center. Gelardin Workshop: Intermediate Photoshop

This workshop provides participants with techniques for retouching photographs. It will also build on the intro course, going into more depth about layers and filters and creating images and profiles for various outputs. Register for this workshop.

Prerequisite: Intro to Photoshop or proof of equivalent experience

 

Gelardin Workshop: Intro to 3D Modeling

Picchi Lab, Gelardin New Media Center

This workshop will be a hands-on workshop using the on-line 3D design tool, Tinkercad. Tinkercad is "an easy-to-use tool for creating digital designs that are ready to be 3D printed into physical objects." The workshop will cover the basic workplace layout, shapes, and tools of the application. The workshop will show how to construct simple objects and introduce how to construct more complex objects. Register for this workshop.

Prerequisite: Make sure to sign up for an account with Tinkercad

Gelardin Workshop: Intermediate InDesign


10:00am-12:00pm, April 14, 2015
Picchi Lab, Gelardin New Media Center

Participant will expand on their knowledge from the Introduction to InDesign course by learning advanced text formatting, advanced layouts including master pages, creating gradients, adding effects, advanced image placement with Photoshop, package and export projects as PDF files. Having completed the beginner and advanced workshops, participants should be able to create basic documents such as brochures, pamphlets, and posters and prepare them for printing. Register for this workshop.

Prerequisite: Intro to InDesign or proof of equivalent experience
