  2. Check the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) Catalog and follow the instructions to request the book through the Consortium Loan Service (CLS). 1. Check the journal title in Find a Journal or GEORGE Discovery first. If the desired journal volume and issue is not available, go to step 2. If Lauinger, Woodstock, or Blommer Science Libraries have the journal but full text is available in hard copy only, please go to step 2 and request through ArticleReach.
  2. Search the journal title in ArticleReach (Main Campus ONLY) to see if other ArticleReach consortium institutions have the title, volume and issue needed. If it is available at an ArticleReach library, complete the ArticleReach request form to have the article sent electronically.
  3. Check the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) Catalog. If the journal title is not available in the WRLC Catalog, go to step 4. FACULTY ONLY: Faculty members of Georgetown University may arrange to borrow media owned by WRLC libraries through the WRLC Media Share program. If an item you need is located at another Georgetown Library, follow the appropriate link below to obtain the material.

Use This Service:

Placing a HOLD on items from Georgetown University's Main Campus, the Law Libraries, and the WRLC Center:

To have a book held for you at a circulation desk, click the "Request" tab in GEORGE, the Main Campus libraries' online catalog or GULLiver, the Law Center libraries' online catalog.

  • Use this service to ask library staff to retrieve circulating items with an "available" status from library shelves and hold them for you at your preferred library's Circulation Desk for 8 days.
  • If you need the item immediately, you may find it faster to retrieve the item from the library shelves yourself. While library staff page items throughout the day, expect a 24 hour turnaround time. Deliveries among campus branches are made once, in the afternoon, per business day. Requests for items from the WRLC Center take up to 48 hours.
  • If another patron has retrieved an item from the shelves before library staff can page the item for you, your hold will remain on the item, but the patron with the item in-hand will be allowed to check-out the material for 4 weeks.
  • Tip: to avoid entering your name and ID with each request, search the catalog from "Your Accounts."

Placing a RECALL on items from Georgetown University's Main Campus, the Law Libraries, and the WRLC Center:

All borrowers may request items that are checked out to another patron. To place a recall on an item click on the "Request" tab when you're viewing the record for the item you want.

You will be notified by email when an item is recalled from you. This means another borrower has placed a hold on an item you have checked-out. If you have just checked the item out it will not be due until you have had it for 4 weeks. If you have already had it for 4 weeks or longer, you will have seven days to return the item. The exception to this is when a book is needed for Course Reserves. You will need to return the item in seven days.

If an item is recalled from you, you must return it by the recall due date. If you still need it, place another hold on it or check the WRLC Consortium Catalog to see if there is a copy available.

RECALL Fines:

Recall fines apply to all borrowers and are $5 per item per day, to a $200 maximum fine per item.

RECALL Notices:

Recall notices are automatically generated and e-mailed. You should regularly check "Your Accounts" on the Library's website to check for recalls on your items in case the recall notification e-mail ends up in a spam file.

RECALLS during Summers and Intersessions:

Materials are subject to recall at ANY TIME. If you plan to be out of town for an extended period of time, please return borrowed items or arrange with someone to receive notices and return recalled material for you. Main Campus libraries are open during intersessions, so recalled items may be due any time the libraries are open.
