We are currently installing new doors in the stairwell in Lauinger Library. During this time, visitors will not be able to use landings that are under construction, either to enter that floor or pass through en route to another. We encourage visitors to use the elevators, although the stairwell may still be used to access floors that are not under construction. Landings under construction should only be used in the case of an emergency.

Miles P. DuVal, Jr. Endowed Collection on Inter-Oceanic Canal and Naval History

This fund was established in 1973 by Captain Miles P. Duval, Jr., USN (Ret.). Miles graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1918. He received a Masters in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1937. The fund's original purpose was to purchase materials on the Panama Canal or on naval history; before his death in 1989, the Captain broadened the focus of the endowment to include American History. The Library's Booth Family Center for Special Collections also contains his papers.
