What is the connection between the University and Hoya plants?

Actually, there is none. Hoya is a large genus of tropical plants in the Asclepiad family, native to Southeast Asia and Australia. The genus is named for Thomas Hoy, an 18th century English botanist who worked as the head gardener for the Duke of Northumberland.
