Civil Rights are in the DVD Spotlight for February

Commemorate Black History Month with documentaries on the Civil Rights and Black Power movements and feature films that dramatize the history of race relations in America. Among the many powerful documentaries included areEyes on the Prize, Freedom Riders, Black Women in the Civil Rights Movement, and King: A Filmed Record. Watch the evolution of race relations in movies, from the beginnings of the film industry with The Birth of a Nation and Paul Robeson's Body and Soul and Borderline, to A Raisin in the Sun and Imitation of Life, then into the present with Do The Right Thing, Fruitvale Station, and 12 Years a Slave. All films can be found on the display case on the 2nd floor.
