Students Use Reimagine Georgetown Grant for Graphic Novels Collection

In spring 2012, Melissa Riggio (C’14) and Tony Lopez (C’14) won a Reimagine Georgetown grant to purchase graphic novels and art books to add to the Library’s collection, a project they completed before graduating in the spring 2014.

Riggio and Lopez, who wanted to see more art in the Lauinger Library, hand-selected the 36 books for the collection, focusing on art books related to Chicano life and culture and graphic novels. The art books display Chicano art such as paintings, tattoos and graphic designs while the graphic novels cover topics related to college life and travel abroad.

All the books are on the Library’s shelves and available for check out! Included in the titles are:

Between Gears by Natalie Nourigat

Blue is the Warmest Color by Julie Maroh

DAR! Volumes 1 and 2 by Erika Moen

Relish by Lucy Knisley

Habibi by Craig Thompson
