Off-Campus Access to Library Resources

How Do I Access Databases from Off Campus?

Georgetown-affiliated users can access most of the Library's online databases from off campus. To log in from off campus:

  1. Navigate to the database through GEORGE, the Research Advisor or the A to Z Databases List.
  2. After you click on the database name, you will be asked to sign in with your last name and GoCard number (nine-digit UID number). This verifies that you are a current Georgetown student, faculty or staff member.

Note that you cannot access a subscription database from off campus by using a Google search or typing in its URL (e.g. www.proquest.com).  Only links to databases from the Library's webpages will direct you to the Georgetown off-campus login prompt.

Limitations on Off-Campus Access

Some databases are restricted to in-library use only. Others may require a special log-in name and password. Such restrictions will be noted in the database description in GEORGE or the Research Advisor. If login information is required, you can obtain it from the reference desk: reference@georgetown.edu or (202) 687-7452.

For Alumni

Alumni have access to a limited number of databases from off campus.
