200th Anniversary of the Georgetown University Archives

Join the Georgetown University Library to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Georgetown University Archives. On Thursday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. the Library will host a special event to mark the occasion.

University Librarian Artemis G. Kirk will be joined by Georgetown President John J. DeGioia, the Tenth Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero, and Georgetown University Archivist Lynn Conway who will provide remarks on the importance of the history preserved in the Georgetown University Archives which is thought to be one of the oldest university archives in the country.

Following the program guests will be invited to tour the accompanying exhibition to view some of the most special items in the archives, debunk common Georgetown myths, and handle some of the more unconventional pieces in the collection. Guests will also have an opportunity to share memories and stories at the reception. Celebrate this special part of Georgetown that preserves the landmark events in Georgetown’s history but also captures the unique experience of being a Hoya yesterday, today, and for generations to come.
