Maker Hub Stories

Film strip with photos of students working in the Maker Hub

In the first year of the Maker Hub, we have seen Hoyas come together to make and innovate in ways we couldn’t have imagined when we opened in October 2016. We invite you to meet Hoya makers such as:

  • Jose Gabriel Andrade (MBA’18) developed an image recognition system using legos, 3d printers, and staff expertise. This system could be used to help the military better identify flying objects and differentiate between birds and drones!
  • Noah Martin (MLD'19) established The Helping Hands Journal Series alongside Jesse Flores (C’16). The journals they created are sold as a social good product, and were produced at the Maker Hub's book binding station.
  • Saumik Rahman (NHS’20) was a part of a neuroscience study in which he had an MRI done of his brain. He later converted the MRI to a 3d model and finally created a 3d printed version of his brain at the Maker Hub.
