New Exhibit Highlights Women at MSB

The Library’s newest exhibit celebrates the 60th anniversary of the first woman to graduate from Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.

Memories, Milestones, and Momentum: 60 Years of Alumnae from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business” reflects on the extensive changes in the way women engage with and contribute to the field of business and society over that time. It also celebrates the more than 6,000 women McDonough alumnae who have excelled in fields from politics to finance to law and marketing.

The exhibit is a companion to a book of the same name, which was based largely on photographs and documents researched and found in Georgetown University Archives. The stories included represent a small fraction of the school’s alumnae, but they provide an important perspective on the history of McDonough and of women in business more broadly. As Ann Sarnoff (B‘83) wrote, “In the winter of 1979, I opened the big brown envelope from Georgetown University. Inside was the offer of admission to the School of Business Administration, then called the SBA, as well as a commitment to meet the financial aid requirements that would make it possible for me to attend. That envelope was like a sliding door that opened up the possibilities for the rest of my life.”

“Memories, Milestones, and Momentum: 60 Years of Alumnae from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business” is on display in the Stephen Richard Kerbs Exhibit Area on the Library’s third floor through May 24, 2021. It can also be viewed online.
